The location of the Glengoyne distillery makes it the perfect
stop if you're ever in the neighbourhood of Glasgow - less than
half an hour by taxi from the city centre. And the friendly family
atmosphere and beautiful little walk to the open air bar under the
waterfall makes it a 'must visit spot' at any trip through the area.
The Glengoyne distillery is said to have been founded in 1833.
And it was founded on the strangest of locations; right between
the Highlands and the Lowlands. And while the 'house style' used
to be more in the direction of Lowlanders (at least to my palate)
they now seem to be going for a more 'Highlandisch' profile.
There is a lot more to tell about Glengoyne, but
that will have to wait... I'm wrapping up this old
website before it crashes and all data is lost.
There's just one interesting little thing I'd like
to share about Glengoyne. The distillery was
rebuilt in 1966-1967, at whhich time the number
of stills was extended from two to three.
On April 16, 2003 Glengoyne was purchased Check out my
by Ian Macleod from Edrington Group, Robertson
& Baxter's parent company.
